The Fresenius products GranuFlo and NaturaLyte have been implicated in a national epidemic of deaths of dialysis patients. In June of 2012, the Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) announced a Class I Recall of GranuFlo and NaturaLyte. According to the FDA, these Fresenius products result in a dangerous increase in bicarbonate levels, ultimately causing cardiac arrest and/or death.
Fresenius, a German company, is the largest operator of dialysis treatment clinics in the United States, with numerous clinics located in Mississippi. Fresenius is also the leading supplier of dialysis products and equipment in this country and worldwide.
