Jackson County: Hwy. 57

The State took .43 acres of a 1.73 acre commercial parcel for the purpose of widening Highway 57 between Ocean Springs and Vancleave, Mississippi.  A large BBQ restaurant and music venue was operated on the property by the owners.  The taking of the .43 acres along Highway 57 negatively impacted future use of the improvements on the property because access would be limited to some portions of the property.  The State took the position that there would be no damage to the remaining property as a result of the taking.
