DeSoto County: I-269
The State took a 9.04 acre parcel of property bisecting a larger parcel of 62.8 acres for the construction of a portion of I-269. All but 7.2 acres of the remaining property was left without access to a public road. Initially, the State took the position that the owner had another means of access to the property and offered $185,900. Before the case was tried, the State acknowledged damage to the remaining property for loss of access and increased its offer to $487,325. A DeSoto County Jury in Hernando, Mississippi, awarded the property owner damages of $842,755.
